Upon arrival in Bulgan County, visit local historical sites in the county center before continuing to the nomadic family’s ger. The evening is spent settling in, meeting the family, and receiving a warm countryside welcome.

• • Spend the day helping the family prepare for the seasonal move. Assist with packing the ger, loading equipment onto camels, and rounding up livestock including horses, cattle, sheep, and goats.
• • This is the day travelers see how much knowledge and coordination goes into a nomadic migration: which animals carry which loads, how the ger is dismantled, how the route is chosen, and how the family prepares food and supplies for the journey. In the evening, Torgut elders share stories connected to migration, family history, and life in the Altai. When available, guests may also attend rituals or customs related to the departure.

• • Begin the migration alongside the herders, traveling by horseback, camelback, or ox cart. Move slowly through the Bulgan River valley, following the livestock as the route climbs toward the higher landscapes of the Altai Mountains.
• • The pace of the day follows the animals and the land. Travelers may help guide livestock, ride with the family, stop for tea, and watch the caravan move across the open valley. Along the way, there may be chances to see Mongolian ibex, golden eagles, and other wildlife of the Altai region.
• • In the evening, set up camp near a mountain river. After dinner, gather around a bonfire for stories about the Torgut people, the migration route, and the traditions that have shaped life in this region for generations.

• • Continue the migration through the rugged terrain of the Altai, ascending toward a high-altitude summer pasture. The route passes through rocky slopes, mountain streams, open grazing areas, and high passes used by herder families during seasonal movement.
• • Stop for a traditional lunch with the herders and observe how yaks, sheep, goats, horses, and camels are managed during the migration. Depending on the family’s chosen pasture and conditions, camp may be set near a glacial lake or mountain creek.
• • In the evening, enjoy a special nomadic feast featuring slow-cooked meat and homemade milk vodka, known locally as arkhi. This is often one of the most memorable nights of the journey, with the family settled into the new landscape and the hardest part of the migration behind them.

• After the migration, take part in a private Mini Naadam festival organized with the local community. The celebration features traditional Mongolian sports such as horse racing, archery, and wrestling, offering guests a more intimate version of Mongolia’s most famous national festival.

The day ends with a farewell celebration, including a traditional feast, singing, and throat singing. • • Say goodbye to the nomadic family and begin the journey back toward Khovd town. On the way, stop at Gurvan Senkher Cave, one of Mongolia’s important prehistoric rock art sites, home to 15,000 year old cave paintings.
• • Enjoy a picnic lunch near the cave before continuing to Khovd town. Upon arrival, visit local historical sites and explore the market for handmade crafts, textiles, and souvenirs from western Mongolia.

• Transfer to the airport for the flight back to Ulaanbaatar.
