This week long tour gives traveler a unique chance to visit the settlement of rare reindeer herders residing remote taiga forest of Northern Mongolia being able to talk to them and witness their amazing lifestyles. Your journey to the remote taiga involves domestic flight, jeep drive and horseback ride. You are also visiting the Huvsgul Lake, the dark blue pearl of Mongolia on the way back to Ulaanbaatar. Except from your experience in the Northern Mongolia, you will have a fantastic time in and outside Ulaanbaatar visiting the most famous sites, museums and spectacular Terelj National Park.

Day 1

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and half-day city tour
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and check in hotel. After lunch in a western restaurant you are having half day city tour with visits to National History Museum, Bogd Khaan Palace Museum and Zaisan Hill. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2

Fly to Murun town, transfer to Delgerkhaan
This morning we are taking an early flight to Murun town, capitol of the Huvsgul aimag. We are driving to Delgerkhaan camp, located on the bank of beautiful Shishgid River in the middle of northern Mongolian spectacularly green plateau of Darkhadiin Khotgor. The trip by our well-maintained Russian jeeps and minivans for 220 kms from Murun to Darkhadiin Khotgor will continue for 4-5 hours. Packed lunch will be served on the way. After arriving in the camp we are settled in our gers, have dinner and overnight in the camp.

Day 3

West Taiga forest and horse riding
After having breakfast in the morning we are starting our journey towards West Taiga, which is one of the only two regions where the Reindeer people inhabit. First, we are driving for 25 kilometers to Uhert, then continue our trip on horseback. Overnight in tented camping in Menge Bulag pass.

Day 4

Visit a settlement of Reindeer people
This morning we are visiting the settlement of reindeer people composed of skin or canvas covered huts. We are spending half day experiencing the lifestyle of reindeer people and having conversations with them. After lunch with the reindeer people, we are riding our horses back to Uhert, where our jeeps are waiting for us. In the evening we will arrive back at the camp. After dinner we will see intriguing performance of a Shaman, near the camp.

Day 5

4wd transfer to Huvsgul Lake
Today we are traveling to Huvsgul Lake by jeeps for 165 kilometers with packed lunch on the way. After having settled in our gers at a lake side tourist camp we are enjoying a relaxing afternoon until dinner. Overnight in the tourist camp.

Day 6

Huvsgul Lake
Full day of exploring the surrounding area of the beautiful blue lake. Optional activities including trekking, rafting, fishing or horse riding. In the evening, enjoy a brief folklore singing and dancing concert at the camp.

Day 7

Fly back to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast at the camp, transfer to Murun airport for onward flight to Ulaanbaatar with picnic lunch on the way. Have brief city tour and shopping as time permits. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 8

Departure flight
Transfer to Chinggis Khaan international airport and departure.
